QUICK TIP: Using Search in Your Shopify Dashboard

When working in your Shopify dashboard, have you ever had the need to find something quickly?

Maybe a product, or an order, a customer, a blog post, a page or collection within your store, or even a Help page on Shopify?

Here’s a really fast and easy quick tip for you…

It’s the Shopify dashboard Search bar!

Use Search Bar:

  1. From your Shopify Dashboard, click inside the Search bar and type a keyword, or keywords that you need to find
  2. Click the desired item from the result list
  3. If needed, you can also filter the type of results you are looking for: everything; only products; only orders; or only customers

You can also use search operators to help narrow down your results. For example: Or, Not, and And.

  • OR – Search for something using the word OR between keywords. For example, “dorman OR drawer” – the results will include at least one of these keywords.
  • NOT – Omit items that contain a certain keyword by using the minus sign (-). For example, “dorman -drawer” – the results will include everything with the word dorman by not drawer.
  • AND – If you want to search for multiple terms, you can type the terms as needed. For example, “dorman drawer” – the results will include everything that contains both of these keywords.

I use this Search bar for practically everything! Instead of clicking on a menu, and then on a submenu, I just go to where I need to go by searching for it. It’s a huge time saver!

For example, let’s say you have something listed in your Etsy shop and in your Shopify store, and it sells on Etsy. You’ll want to mark the item as “out of stock” on Shopify (sold). A quick way to do that is to go to the Search bar in your Dashboard, type the name of the item, and the search will bring you right to it! Just click the item, make your inventory change, and you’re done! Quick and easy!

Give it a try!
