FREE TOOL: FlexClip Video Creator

Have you thought about creating videos for your ecommerce marketing, but didn’t know where to start?

FlexClip is an easy-to-use video creator tool that will have you creating videos like a pro in no time!

I’ve been using FlexClip to create cover photos for my Pinterest account page and for my Facebook Page. I’ve also been using it for video Pinterest pins, Facebook posts, and Instagram stories. There are SO many clever ways to use this tool!

Videos can attract more attention to your store than standard posts. This means an increase in traffic to your store, as well as an increase in sales. Videos are also a great way to engage with your customers on social media.

FlexClip lets you create videos without any technical expertise. This tool is so easy to use, it only takes minutes to create a quality video. FlexClip provides templates you can use to begin a video and then customize from there. There are also royalty-free stock photos and videos you can use, as well as music clips.

FlexClip offers a free version you can use – give it a try! There are also paid versions available – I’m using the Plus Plan with an annual subscription. Right now, you can save 10% on the Plus Plan by clicking this FlexClip link and using the code DRAWINGBOARD3 at checkout. That’s just $86.29 a year ($7.19 a month)!

Get Started Using FlexClip

All you need to get started using FlexClip is your computer. There’s nothing to download – you use FlexClip right in your browser. The steps below are the basic steps needed to get started. I’ve also included links to the Help pages for more details about each feature.

Get Started:

  1. Go to FlexClip.com and click the Sign Up – Free button in the upper-right corner, and create an account.
Once you’re logged in, you’re ready to start creating!
  2. When you’re first getting started, I recommend clicking the Create By Templates button in the upper-left corner to create a video using a template.
A list of all the available templates appears, as shown below. Once you become comfortable creating videos, you might want to use the Start From Scratch button instead of using a template.
  3. Choose the type of templates you’d like to see in the Categories list on the left, then browse through the templates until you find one you like.
When you hover over a template, the video will play and you’ll also be able to hear the music for that video.
  4. When you find a template you want to start with, hover over it and then click on the Customize button to begin editing.
Your screen will look similar to the one below. Click the Play button to preview the entire video, if you’d like.
  5. To edit each slide, simply click the slide in Storyboard in the row at the bottom of the screen.
The selected slide will appear in the editor.
  6. To edit text, double-click on the text in the editor to open the edit box, then type your changes – you can also remove a line of text by clicking the X to the right of that line. Click OK when you’re done editing text.
The edit box will appear, as shown below. Each line in the edit box will show you how many characters of text you can place onto that line.
TIP: You can press the [ENTER] key to end a line short so you have multiple lines of text in each component area.
  7. Continue editing the slides as needed, by clicking the thumbnails in the Storyboard row at the bottom of the screen.
  8. If you need to delete a slide from the Storyboard row, hover over it and then click the X in the upper-right corner of the thumbnail image.
  9. To add a new slide to the Storyboard row, click the + Storyboard box at the end of the row, then choose the type of slide you’d like.
  10. Experiment with the Text features available in the panel on the left of the slide editor – click the All> button to see all text options within each category (Simple Text, Dynamic Text, Overlay, and Logo/Intro/Outro)
Click each element to see the change to the slide in the edit window.
  11. Click the Element icon in the left panel to add different elements to your slide – Click the All> button to see all the options available within each category (Dynamic Elements, Arrow, Social, Bubble, Shape, Birthday)
  12. Click the Music icon in the left panel to add music to your video
The current music for the template appears. Click the Music+ icon for more music choices.
Explore all the music available! You can filter by the type of music using choices in the left panel, or by clicking on the categories of music in the thumbnail area. Once you’ve found the music you like, click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Music window, and return to the editor.
TIP: You can add your own music to your video by clicking the Browse My Files button in the upper-right of the Music window.

  13. Click the Gear icon in the left panel for more customization and control over your video
A screen similar to the one below will appear. Make any changes needed.
  14. Use the Toolbar at the top of the slide edit window to further customize your slide
This toolbar allows you to change the Font of your text, as well as the Color, Emphisis (Bold or Italic), Size, Justification, and there is a tool you can click to edit the text – instead of double-clicking the text as I mentioned earlier. There are additional icons in the upper-right of the Toolbar that allow you to adjust elements, change the position of elements, or delete elements of the slide.
  15. Use the Toolbar at the bottom of the slide edit window to Add Stock Media, Upload Media from your computer (your own photos or videos), Record the screen into the video, and to Record Voice over the video. You can also Split Video,  change it’s Duration, and Trim Video with these tools.
  16. Click the Transition Effects icon in the thumbnail of the slide you want to edit on the Storyboard row, then choose the animation you prefer
Each slide in your video can have a different animation effect.
  17. Give your project a name in the Untitled text box in the upper-left of the screen. When you’re working on a project, it will Save automatically.
  18. Use the Undo and Redo icons at the top right of the edit window to undo changes or redo them as needed
  19. Use the Preview button in the top right of the edit window to view your changes, then when you’re ready to publish the video, click the Export Video button
If you’re using the Plus Plan, you have options regarding the published size of the video, as shown below. Choose the option you prefer, then click Export Video to get the video ready to use.
  20. When your video is done exporting, save the .MP4 file to your computer, and you’ll be able to post it on your blog, on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, in an email or wherever you want to share the video.
  21. Your saved projects are stored in your account in the My Projects row at the top of the screen when you log in. You can Duplicate videos to create a new one (versus starting from scratch).
